Surely it is wrong to say that there is no connection whatsoever between Cooplands in Scarborough and (the original) Cooplands in Doncaster. I was assured by a former director of Cooplands in Doncaster that there had, originally been a family connection. Of course, the current owners of what trades as Cooplands in Doncaster have no connection with the original, particularly as there have been two sales of the business in the last , what, 7 or 8 years. But there is, surely, this historical connection. Just as there is a historical connection between John Smiths brewery and Sam Smiths brewery in Tadcaster. albeit Sam Smiths still belongs to a very old limited company, whereas John Smiths now belongs to a multi-national company.
