The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of a fair use image as a replaceable image. Please do not modify it.

The result was to delete the image.

1. No free equivalent image is known to exist.
2. The image in question was published by the copyright holder as promotional material, is available freely via the internet, and its use here does not replace any market role for the original copyrighted media.
3. The image as used here presents no potential legal or copyright liability to Wikipedia.
4. It is used to illustrate a biographical article on Wikipedia.
5. The image has been published.
6. The image meets general Wikipedia content requirements (encyclopedic).
7. The image meets the media-specific policy requirements (format).
8. The image is used in at least one article.
9. The image contributes significantly to the article in question.
10. The image is only used in the article namespace.
11. The image contains proper attribution of the source of the material, a fair use tag, and a fair use rationale (this one).

Your first point is that no free replacement is known to exist, and that's true. But FUC#1 requires that no replacement exists or could be created. – Quadell ^{(talk) (random)} 14:36, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

And as I have repeatedly stated, until and unless a quality free image is located, Fair Use images should be left in place, and I believe that meets the "reasonable" qualification indicated under FUC. You of course disagree, but the thousands of people's work as contributors to Wikipedia you seek to wipe out, merely because someone is living and a free image might be available at some point, would radically disagree with your interpretation of Wikipedia policy and it's "reasonableness". The deletion position is one argued by yourself and few self-appointed "purists", and the vast majority of Wikipedians that have uploaded proper fair use images of living persons would disagree. I have spent dozens and dozens of hours finding and loading decent images to Wikipedia, and have done nothing but try and improve content here, not destroy it without replacement content of equivalent quality. And it's obvious from page history examinations that, those that disagree with you and the others that share your viewpoint, are likely to come under wholesale attack, as has been the case with my images.
