Forgot to turn off anti-aliasing on the fonts again! I still have this saved as layers. I'll get around to redoing the text layers sometime soon. Kbh3rd 04:36, 4 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Updated with much better fonts, and better lat/lon grid. Kbh3rd 19:32, 6 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- I regenerated this map with correct latitude markings and a conic projection. This should be the last version, at least for a while. This map was made with an equidistant or simple conic projection with a program that I wrote using forumlas from the book Flattening the Earth, John P. Snyder, 1993, p. 70. Though the results look reasonable, the accuracy of my program has not been verified. The original unprojected map was made with drawmap using GTOPO30 data from the USGS. - Kbh3rd 01:48, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)
There's a reasonable complaint about this image at Vancouver Island's talk page. I'm not sure whether the problems are caused by the makemap program or by the relatively low-resolution GTOPO30 dataset, or a combination of the two. When I get a chance I'll see how it turns out using the same data in a different program. --Kbh3rd 23:33, 3 Nov 2004 (UTC)
