You forgot Tanzania (Julius Nyerere) and Burkina Faso (Thomas Sankara).
In your map there's East Germany still visible. East Germany was socialist, that's right, but the map does not show "present day borders" as you state. Tobenvontoben (talk) 20:31, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
"Under any definition"; Nazi Germany defined itself "National SOCIALIST", why isn't the entirety of Germany lit? 70.59.140.179 (talk) 16:26, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- Because the thing that called itself "National Socialist" was a political party, not the country of Germany. The name of Germany at the time was "Deutsches Reich" (German Empire or German Realm). Sure, it was ruled by a political party that had the word "socialist" in its name, but so is France right now (see Socialist Party (France)). So why isn't France lit? Because the word "socialist" is in the name of the party, not the country. If we were to lit up every country that was ever ruled by a party with "socialist" in its name, we would have to lit up almost the entire world. Parties with the word "socialist" in their name are extremely common. KS79 (talk) 17:52, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

What's about the ultra-liberal socialist constitution ] ?
Should european union be considered as a country with socialist constitution? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.89.44.229 (talk) 08:47, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- First of all, that constitution did not pass, so it's a moot point. But secondly, that constitution was merely called "socialist" by some conservatives. It did not actually call itself socialist and did not use the word "socialism". Lots of things are called "socialist" by their opponents. KS79 (talk) 17:52, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
Because this image is not related to states rules by socialist party, but to constitution with socialist word, should not this file be renamed Socialist constitutions all.png ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.89.44.229 (talk) 08:50, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Should Paris also be added, because of the Paris Commune? It had only a short duration of about 70 day. --] (talk) 15:06, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- Well, maybe... Did the Paris Commune officially call itself socialist? KS79 (talk) 17:52, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
